The Handmade Heaven workshop

Handmade Heaven is a small Polish knitwear workshop. We make sweaters the way they've always been made: by hand, on needles, from real wool — stitch by stitch, with no machines and no hurry.

Why we do it

It started with frustration: "wool" sweaters from the shops that were ready for the bin after a single season, and labels listing less wool than a sock. We decided a sweater should be like good shoes or a good knife — bought once, for many years.

That's why you won't find acrylic or polyester in our sweaters. Only certified merino wool, baby alpaca and undyed wool from Polish sheep.

How a sweater is made

We spend between 40 and 80 hours on a single sweater. We start by choosing the yarn and knitting a swatch, then we knit the individual pieces, join them by hand, weave in the ends and block the finished sweater — shaping it wet to its final measurements. Every piece passes through the same pair of hands, from the first stitch to the last.

Handcraft means responsibility

• a short supply chain — yarn from certified sources, made in Poland,
• zero overproduction — we make most sweaters to order,
• repairability — our sweaters can be darned, altered, even unravelled and knitted anew.
